CASE

COWI

COWI’s new website combines aesthetics and functionality with a reduced CO2 footprint

RETAIL & SERVICES

COWI has launched a bold and groundbreaking website that will undoubtedly stand out in the industry. The website is a digital manifestation of COWI’s new visual identity and serves as a platform that elegantly conveys COWI’s projects, vision, and values.

CHALLENGE

What was needed: a technical update for the CMS and a more user-friendly platform

The global engineering and consulting company, COWI, faced a challenge. Their CMS needed a technical update, and they required a more user-friendly platform. At the same time, COWI had implemented a new visual identity and wanted a contemporary digital presence that reflected the brand. The goal was to improve the storytelling about COWI and enhance the communication team’s content management capabilities without compromising a process that involved both customers and internal stakeholders.

We had a really good experience working with the team from Knowit. Their expertise and commitment throughout the process were crucial in realizing our vision for the new website. We are proud of the result and can highly recommend Knowit for their professional and dedicated approach.

SOLUTION

A cloud-based website for future growth and innovation

With a new visual identity and the need for a new technical setup, it was crucial to integrate strategy, creativity, and technology from the start. Knowit facilitated an intensive six-week clarification process, involving both business and customers through workshops and meetings.

Focusing on simplicity in both communication and solution, a concept was developed where communication was streamlined, and users were placed at the center. We chose Umbraco as the technical solution, as it fully meets COWI’s needs and offers a very user-friendly editor interface. The solution is cloud-based and prepared for future scalability, allowing COWI to continue its growth and digital innovation without obstacles.

RESULT

The digital CO2 footprint has been reduced by 59%

The new website is more than just an online presence – it is a digital home where COWI’s values, mission, and achievements are presented with style and clarity. The advanced platform is designed to be intuitive and engaging. Users are placed at the center, making it easier to navigate and find relevant information.

At the same time, the website’s digital CO2 footprint has been reduced by 59%, and the website has improved from a rating of E to B. The visual and functional upgrade of COWI’s website enables the company to communicate more effectively and support their position in the engineering and consulting industry. It reflects COWI’s ability to combine aesthetics with functionality, creating a unique and inspiring user experience.

How this solution contributes to Agenda 2030?

SDG 7 and 3

This effort conserves energy for both COWI and their website visitors. From the visitors’ perspective, the site structure and content has been simplified making it easier to find information and navigate the site. At the same time, use of images and media files has been optimized so that each page load becomes faster and requires less energy to render on local devices.
