HOGIA SIGNIT

Hogia Signit secures the future of advanced e-signatures with 99.999% annual uptime

MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY

When Hogia Signit was ready to take the next step and future-proof its e-signature solution, they quickly realised that advanced electronic signatures (AES) is the way forward. The search for a partner that meets the strict requirements of Swedish law and eIDAS (electronic identification and trust services) led to Knowit's independent e-signature service Signport – developed and operated in Sweden.

Hogia Signit is Hogia's module for creating, sending and signing digital documents with legally binding e-signatures. Since the service must be able to issue everything from board protocols and annual reports to employment contracts and customer agreements, it was important for Hogia that the underlying technology for the e-signatures is secure and in accordance with the EU's eIDAS regulation (EU 910/2014, Article 26), and be of the ‘Advanced Electronic Signature’ type.

High security requirements

Hogia Signit was quick to understand that advanced signatures will become the norm for future-proofing documents and validating signatures going forward. With thousands of documents requiring a secure, verifiable signature every day, a solution was needed that:

  • Complies with the Annual Accounts Act and the Book-keeping Act
  • Follows the eIDAS standard for advanced signatures
  • Can be validated

It was crucial in the choice of partner that Personal Advanced E-signatures could be guaranteed under Swedish law and that the partner complies with EU regulations in eIDAS.

It should be a given that the authenticity of signatures can be validated in a simple and automated way. Otherwise, it becomes unsustainable for authorities and courts to approve electronic signatures.

The collaboration takes shape

After comparing a number of suppliers, Hogia decided that Knowit's Signport service was right for their needs; all signatures in Hogia Signit are now handled by Signport's technology. Signport is based on the framework developed by DIGG (the Swedish Agency for Digital Administration) and comes with an API that makes integration smooth. The results of the collaboration speak for themselves:

  • 99.999% annual uptime – downtime has been virtually eliminated.
  • 50,000+ users signing securely every year.
  • Continuous updates in line with new regulatory requirements, such as the upcoming eIDAS 2.0.

We have chosen a more ambitious path in the development of Signport – with a focus on security, scalability and ensuring that our customers are always one step ahead of regulatory developments.
