To support secure and standardized cloud adoption across hundreds of AWS accounts, Knowit partnered with a global enterprise to design and implement one of the world’s most advanced AWS landing zones – ensuring full control of governance, access, and compliance at scale.

BACKGROUND

A multinational enterprise with an extensive IT footprint set out to modernize its cloud infrastructure. With AWS accounts spread across business units worldwide, the organization needed a centralized, well-architected landing zone to enforce consistent governance, improve cost control, and enable rapid adoption—without slowing down innovation.

CHALLENGE

Fragmented accounts, complex governance

The client struggled to manage a large and varied AWS environment. Some accounts required secure integration with internal networks, while others needed to remain publicly accessible. The solution had to meet strict security and compliance requirements, align with AWS best practices, and provide standardized, ready-to-use accounts across multiple geographies.

SOLUTION

Landing zone built for scale and security

Since 2020, Knowit has staffed 60–70 percent of the client’s core AWS landing zone team with senior cloud engineers. Together, we’ve developed and continuously refined a secure, scalable foundation with features such as:

  • Seamless login via SSO, integrated with the corporate identity directory
  • Role-based access control (RBAC) through a centralized identity management tool
  • Unified cost tracking and tax-adjusted reporting
  • Segregated log storage for audit purposes
  • AWS Security Hub with compliance monitoring
  • Flexible network integration supporting both on-premise and VPC-native setups
  • Reference architectures and templates for consistent, automated deployments

Transparent cost allocation across the organization further supports scalable and accountable operations.
