UNGC

Member of the UN Global Compact

As a member to UN Global Compact, the world's largest sustainability initiative to strengthen corporate social responsibility, we are committed to actively working with sustainability matters and annually reporting the progress on our sustainability efforts to the UN. The membership also involves a responsibility to promote the 17 sustainable development goals and to work for the ten principles of corporate responsibility.

“Through our membership, we are showing our support for the UN Global Compact and committing to improve our operations so that the UN principles permeate our strategy, our culture, and our day-to-day work,” says Joakim Pilborg, Head of Sustainability at Knowit.

Here we make the biggest difference

It goes without saying that Knowit protects human rights, working conditions, the environment and fights all forms of corruption. It is something we have worked on for a long time. We have identified nine of the UN 17 global sustainability goals where we can make the biggest difference:

  • Goal 3: Good health and well-being
  • Goal 4: Quality education
  • Goal 5: Gender equality
  • Goal 7: Affordable and clean energy
  • Goal 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure
  • Goal 11: Sustainable cities and communities
  • Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production
  • Goal 13: Climate action
  • Goal 16: Peace, justice and strong institutions

Entur gathers Norwegian public transportation on one platform

Contributes to UN goal 9 and 11

Entur AS is a Norwegian state-owned company established to offer sales and ticket solutions and travel planners for all the public transportation throughout Norway. As a competition-neutral player, Entur gives travellers a simple way to buy tickets, without requiring any knowledge on which transport companies provide transportation along various routes in various regions. Knowit has suggested and implemented a technology and cloud strategy and served as an advisor in strategic collaborations for the Norwegian transport sector. Together with Knowit, Entur has gathered all the Norwegian public transportation on a single platform and created a special ecosystem for public transportation.

Open data on Swedish aid

Contributes to UN goal 1, 8 and 9

Sida is Sweden’s government agency for development cooperation. In 2010, a transparency guarantee was implemented in Swedish aid and development cooperation. This means that public documents and information about Swedish aid is made available on their website Openaid.se. On Openaid.se, open data on Swedish aid are visualized and presented – including information on who has received aid from Sweden, when, and for what purpose, as well as what the outcome has been. Here, all the data on Swedish aid and efforts from 1998 and forward are gathered and presented. Knowit has developed and now maintains the platform.

A data workshop creates new conditions for collaboration

Contributes to UN goal 9, 11 and 17

In November 2019, the regional development committee in the Västra Götaland Region decided to establish a regional collaboration in open data. The collaboration was to encompass all the regional and municipal operations in the region. Knowit was given the confidence to head up this collaboration. The data workshop is an initiative financed by Vinnova with the goal of establishing a collaboration forum involving government authorities, interest organizations, the private sector, researchers and universities, the press and media, and others, to gather and make tangible the need for data. The aims are to achieve increased transparency, efficiency, and quality in the operations and to create the conditions for growth and innovation in society.
