Fremia's new website: user-centric design with 92% faster load times
Fremia, the Swedish employers' organization for non-profit and cooperative enterprises, has launched a new website that serves as a digital advisor – helping members easily find answers, support, and confidence in their decisions. Together with Knowit, Fremia has built a platform with improved performance, smarter integrations, and enhanced member services – a site that loads 92 percent faster.

BACKGROUND
Enhancing digital presence
Fremia is an employers' organization for non-profit and cooperative enterprises, ranging from large, well-known organizations to smaller associations. The organization’s digital presence plays an important role in supporting its members in their day-to-day work – from employment law and collective agreements to templates and resources. The goal of the new website was to simplify access to the right information, strengthen the brand, and make advisory services more accessible.
CHALLENGE
Outdated technology was holding back member value
The previous website had limitations both technically and in terms of user experience. Slow loading times – especially when logging in – made it difficult for some members to access important information. Although a logged-in mode was available, it lacked a personalized dashboard and tools for effective follow-up. Fremia set out to improve performance, simplify the flow of information, and create a more user-focused interface – without removing features that were already working well.
SOLUTION
A new web platform built for performance, stability, and growth
Knowit developed Fremia’s new website using Optimizely CMS 12 (.NET Core) and introduced a new integration layer that connects the website content with Fremia’s CRM. The focus was on creating a stable, secure, and future-proof solution. Performance goals were set early on and continuously measured using Lighthouse—particularly in desktop view, where the majority of users are active.
Close collaboration between developers, UX designers, and Fremia’s advisors formed the foundation of the solution. A panel of 30 members was recruited to test the platform and provide ongoing feedback. By building API solutions to synchronize content between the CRM and the website, information could be updated quickly and consistently.
The new website is the result of a well-functioning collaboration, clear goals from the start, and a dedicated and knowledgeable product owner. And we've had a fantastic time along the way.

RESULT
Faster load times and improved member service – Fremia’s new website delivers
The new website has significantly enhanced the member experience. Page generation time is now over 92% faster, meaning users receive the first byte of data from the server to the browser almost instantly—an essential factor in perceived performance.
Studies show that a B2B website loading in just 1 second can achieve three times higher conversion rates than one loading in 5 seconds—and five times higher than one loading in 10 seconds (source: Marketing Scoop, 2024). Additionally, perceived quality drops by an average of 16% for every extra second of delay (source: Akamai). This impacts everything from trust and return visits to users' willingness to engage with content or services.
For Fremia’s members—many of whom seek guidance on complex topics—a fast, accessible, and reliable platform is crucial. Today, more features are available in the logged-in area, login performance has been stabilized, and the technical solution is built to support future needs. The website also meets WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and is scanned monthly with Detectify to ensure high levels of security.
