Start, stop, repeat. Those days are over.

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is a technique used to automate tasks that would otherwise need to be done by office staff. It homes in on repetitive, mundane tasks that can be done by machines, as they require no particular human input. Work of this kind can be done cheaper, quicker and more reliably by machines than by people. The motivation to use RPA is to reduce costs, but also to increase capacity and quality.

A human robot

When we use the word robot in this context we mean a program that mimics the steps you take as you work in various systems. The robot works in the user interface exactly like a human. It runs in its own computer and performs the steps from there. This is something new, different from the traditional machine/machine communication via API or a data warehouse below the user interface.

You do not need programming or other specialist IT skills to be able to develop a robot of this kind. The robot is constructed from graphs in which symbols represent flows, decisions, actions and calculations. The symbols are like the ones used in MS Visio. The main thing a “robot developer” needs is the ability to analyze work processes and optimize processes as much as possible.

RPA is one of a number of technical trends affecting working conditions and human needs. Responsibilities will change along with professional roles.

This means your employees will be able to challenge themselves with more intellectually stimulating work. We believe that RPA will be a driver of increased productivity at work. Let your staff do what they are good at, and leave the repetitive stuff to a robot.
