The automotive market is facing one of the most significant transformations in its history - from building cars to providing mobility services. As a result, resuming a more agile approach in combination with excellent software quality is becoming of higher importance for automotive suppliers.

It is now announced that Knowit´s Wireless Labs have been awarded the Automotive Software Process Improvement and Capability dEtermination (A-SPICE) Level 2 certification. This independent assessment validates our capability to deliver safe, secure, and reliable software components for automotive applications. It is a milestone achievement that reflects Knowit’s commitment to implementing industry best practices and ability to design and deploy best-in-class automotive software.

“Software deliveries to the automotive market are a vital part of Knowits offerings,” says Per Wallentin, CEO of Knowit. “With the previously announced acquisition of Swedspot , this A-SPICE certification emphasizes our capabilities to deliver state-of-the-art software products and projects”.

“A-SPICE Level 2 certification is a significant achievement for Knowit and a great checkpoint on our roadmap,” says Fredrik Rydén, COO at Knowit Connectivity Wireless Labs. “Furthermore, we have additional important information and cybersecurity frameworks, like ISO/SAE 21434 and TISAX, to be certified for in the foreseeable future”.

A-SPICE is an initiative of the Automotive Special Interest Group and the Quality Management Center in the German Automotive Industry Association (VDA QMC). It is based on ISO/IEC 15504, a design and assessment framework for software development processes. A-SPICE defines best practices for software development within the automotive industry.

Knowit’s Wireless Labs, part of the business area Knowit Connectivity, deliver standard software components to vehicle manufacturers and tier 1 projects around the world with over 60 million successful vehicle installations. Following the recent developments in the automotive industry, we have been adjusting and optimizing our software development processes, technologies and tools in accordance with the strict requirements of A-SPICE. This is to ensure providing our automotive customers with reliable software in accordance with standard processes and in a sustainable way.

An independent assessment was conducted at Wireless Labs R&D center in Łódź, Poland, in August 2022 by a team of external assessors.
